The SDP training schedules were written by John Reich, coach of the Sonoran Distance Project, and Derek Delancey, a 2:35 masters marathoner and coach of the Delancey Loopers. The Sonoran Distance Project is a team of Arizona based elite women marathoners preparing for the 2020 US Olympic Marathon Trials. Currently four of the six women on the team have qualified for 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials. Brittney Feivor with a 2:35 at CIM 2018, Autumn Ray with a 2:37 at CIM 2018, Bry Lauck with a 2:41 at CIM 2018 and Allison Delancey with a 2:43 at CIM 2018. Amy Cole and Natalie Como will be running CIM 2019 in attempt to get their qualifiers. SDP women have won the Sprouts Mesa-Phoenix 1/2 Marathon in 2015 and 2019.

Training Plans:

SDP coach John Reich and Derek Delancey have written beginner, intermediate and advanced training plans to prepare athletes for the 2020 Sprouts Mesa-PHX Marathon or 1/2 marathon. The plans incorporate years of coaching experience working with athletes of all ability levels. All programs include 16 weeks of training which can be purchased in 4 four week blocks for $25 each. In addition to the schedules which will be delivered through Final Surge the program includes eight YouTube training videos covering:
-training intensity
-ancillary training to support your running
-injury prevention
-how to modify training for injury or improvement
-sports psychology advice and tips
-race strategy
-long run and race nutrition
-balancing training with the rest of your life

The program also includes four group training runs on or near the marathon course. Runs will be held Oct. 19, Nov. 16, Dec. 21 and Jan. 11. Runs will include coaching from John and Derek and women from the SDP team. Sprouts will also be providing refreshments.

All proceeds from train plan sales will go toward SDP training expenses as the team prepares for the 2020 US Olympic Marathon Trials in Atlanta on February 29, 2020.
